This part shows how and where the material was obtained. The lead samples were given by a staff from IE (institute of earth environment, Chinese academy of science). Of all the samples provided, the one with smooth and shiny surface was chosen for material library.

Process Route

This part gives a brief overview of how lead is made. The process route of this kind of metal is divided into two ways, concentrating from lead battery or ores. Each of them is generally composed of 3 steps. But due to the limitation of technical route, more than half of the high purity lead is recovered from batteries.

Applications

Lead is applied to a wide range of fields currently. This section briefly analyzes and summarizes the application of lead from two different state, elemental form and compound. In elemental form, due to the properties of corrosion resistance, high density, and the cheap price, it is often used in construction industry or made into lead-acid battery. For compound, many kinds of lead compound are used as oxidizing agent, paints or semiconductors.
